Journeying through journaling

Hello there,

This post is special. Why? because it is not written by the blog owner. Instead her husband has now taken control of the keyboard and decided to share his path of self discovery through journaling.

My name is Ali. This is my story.

One day, out of the blue I received a gift. Nicely wrapped and out of curiosity I smelled it. Sniff Sniff There was a small hint of leather. With my wife’s cheeky smile she said, open up! Having received a hulk mask previously, it is interesting to get the hulk’s purple pants. I was then holding notebook wrapped by a leather. “What is this?” “Duh!! it is a journal!”, she annoyingly replied while rolling her eyes. Only women can roll their eyes. I have tried it before in front of mirror, it hurts.

In it is a blank notebook. I left it blank , untouched for months. One day I was inspired just like that, I crept in slowly, lifts some pages and started devising a plan on how to get away from city life and live off the grid. Drawing up my design of container house, renewable energy and later on when reality hits me, I shy away from the idea. “It would be nice. But maybe not now.”

To make this story relevant, my father gave me his fountain pen. Old, beautiful and outfitted with gold. To tell you the truth my handwriting is equivalent to that when chicken scratches the ground looking for worms. Le wife ask me to check the 31 day journaling challenge by art of manliness. So I man up and took the challenge but before that, I will need to capture the spirit of writing. I’m still learning to write cursive because at the part of the world I’m living in, cursive is just another font in microsoft word. I would love to ‘paint’ those letters instead of writing it. The idea is that to put constraint of what to write each day. With hurdles and obstacles, one may perhaps becomes creative. If the road is laid out clear, then to give the brain a workout does not seem to be necessary at all. There will be no learning process.

If asked why do I write? It is self discovery. Do we even know our own self? Whenever we want to decide something, there is always this opposing or supporting thought in that decision. If the mind is the tool to make decision, then what is the force that opposes it sometimes? How are we different from animals? They get up in the morning foraging for food. We wear suit and tie and go to work. Earn money to get food. We avoid pain, seek pleasure and fighting for survival, we are no different than animals in that sense. So why is this creature human is so special? Therefore as I continue to write, I hope that each pages allows me to contemplate and travel deep. Understand the thought process. Because sometimes, just a glimpse. just a glimpse of dis-identification happens. It feels that you are nobody, without name and connected to one incredible vast limitless ocean of life, then SNAP! you lost it.

Whoever you are today, it is shaped by upbringing and experiences all around. That is what shapes the mind. You pick up experiences and assimilate with it. But when you die, the brain with the mind inside and experiences you have gathered dies with it. The thought of suddenly ‘not exist’ is.. seems impossible. No doubt there is a higher consciousness that we suppressed, accidently put to sleep.

Week #36 in my

Hello darlings! How was your weekend? We went for a mini tour trip to Singapore with my melon last Saturday. She loves it! Next visit we are planning to bring her on the Duck Tour and visit the Gardens by The Bay. Ok enough about my weekend.

I need to apologize for being late in showing my week #36 in florabunda. This week I keep it simple and deco around the Family theme. As you can see I used a lot of papers and it is a mixture of EchoPark papers and Simple Stories.

EchoPark have specific papers on Family theme which I love. It is 12×12 papers with lots of journaling cards design which I cut and paste it in my planner. The Simple Stories papers are the Public Library theme with cool phrases and journaling cards design as well. I love cutting my papers, mix and match with the other stuff.

The washi I used this week was from Typo shop and Nami-Nami. This is from my personal stash which I have been collecting for months. I’m an avid washi collector hehe.. Who doesn’t love colorful, fun, cute washi? Even my husband loves it! (OK don’t tell him I said that :p)

As for the stamps, I used Simonsaysstamp, Mommylhey, Lawnfawn, Avery Elle and Fundamentals. I have a bunch of planner stamps for planning and also those cute stamps for cardmaking (which I used in my planner).

This is by far the simplest spread I did. I’ll be posting week #37 soon! And a special unboxing videos!

Week #35 in my

Hello darlings!

How was your long weekend? I hope you had a good fun weekend! Mine was packed with family time and my little melon had so much fun. It was such a good way to end the month of August.

Anyway, I would like to show my full layout for week #35 in the florabunda. Earlier on I had decided strictly to use the July Planner Kits from Christy Tomlimson that I had subscribed. Unfortunately it was an impossible task as my new Sweet Edition Project Life is calling to be included in my planner!

So here is my full layout. I have to share both left and right side of my planner as I made a 3-pocket this week and put it in the middle.

  • Yellow pineapples – cut it out from papers in July kit @theplannersociety
  • Pink pineapples – cut it out from papers in July kit as well!
  • Green washi – included in the July kit from @shopfreckledfawn
  • Bow stamp – included in the July kit from @misshoneybird
  • Sticky note (Be Fearless) – included in July kit
  • PL Cards – Sweet Edition from Project Life
  • 3-pocket – This was a DIY from papers I got in July kits
  • Hello Week tab – included in the July kits from @shop.evalicious
  • Stickers – included in the July kits from @theresetgirl
  • Maybe die cut – from Dear Lizzy (Fine & Dandy)

I had managed to decorate this week layout 90% using the July kit. I love the kits so much and feel like I’m getting more each month and it just makes me happy.

I had already learned to make my own 3-pocket from the online class I had enrolled with Christy and Cori. I found that this online class is useful and I’m learning new stuff in each videos. I feel motivated and inspired every time after watching it. You can join me and the other planner girls. Click here.

I will include more of my DIY experiments in the future. Maybe I should start making my own paperclips? That is a brilliant idea for my next project!

Until the next post 🙂

Paper Obsession!

Hello darlings!

I have been meaning from the start to share my other obsession in here. Then I figure out to just be myself! So let me get this out from my chest.. I AM PAPER OBSESSED! I love papers! For some weird reasons I love collecting papers especially the 6×6 paper pads. I have tons!

Of course I use some of it to make dividers for my Mini Pink Meldan, and also play it around in my Blue Edition MTN. I do use it for my scrapbooking projects and also creating little pockets for my planners.

One of the main reasons I had subscribed to @theplannersociety kit club is the papers! I knew that Christy is designing the paper herself and therefore will not be available anywhere else. Knowing that I have this precious papers make me feel happy and special in some way.

All those pretty papers will just need to come home with me. No questions ask. So this is some of my personal collections. Spot anything you like?

This is my collections of 6in x 6in paper pads (except for no.16, that’s 6in x 8in)

  1. Dear Lizzy – Lucky Charm
  2. Dear Lizzy – Serendipity

  4. Becky Higgins (Project Life) – Everyday Edition

Week #34 in my

Hello planner nerds!

So today I would like to share my full layout for week #34 in my super cute 17 month large agenda – Florabunda from

This is my first ‘BIG’ planner and I’m loving it! I’m a personal-size-kinda-girl, but this floral design planner is calling my name when I first saw it at the shop. It is truly a love at first sight between me and this baby.

I love everything about this planner. The size 8 in. x 10 in. is perfect for planning and heavy decorating (Yes I do love sticking lots of embellishments, papers, stickers on my planner). The glossy hard cover floral design, the gold spiral-bound with a lay flat design, and not forgetting the gold elastic band closure to keep everything secure and tight in the planner.

There are also some other great features of this planner which I love. It has the double-sided pocket page which can keep tons of my stickers (Yes I have lots of them), and the cutest sticker page! Through out the planner there are cheerful illustrations, little notes or they called it fun to-do’s for each weekend, some special holidays for the girls and the girls code!

Ok I think enough about the planner and more on my own layout. Hehe… So here it is! My week #34 in florabunda

I’m using a mix of items in this layout and it might be less confusing if I list it down

For now I think that’s all and yeah most of the items are from the June kits. If I’m missing something and you would like to know where I got it from, please leave a comment or e-mail me. To my PAM darlings, you know where you can reach me.

Right now I’m busy decorating my week #35 in florabunda and also one of my personal size planners which will be reveal later this week.

I guess that’s it for now. Do leave me comments or e-mail because I love to hear feedback from the rest of the planner nerds. I have a lot to improve and I’m so in love with our great supportive community!
